Odisha: As part of the initiatives under the Year of Compassion, commemorating the 90th birth year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Local Ghoton Organising Committee of Odisha Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement organised a community feeding programme on 4 June 2026, coinciding with the weekly market day, known locally as Hato, the largest weekly market in the Chelligada village area.

From 12:00 noon to 3:30 p.m., more than 1,350 local residents from surrounding villages were served a complimentary lunch consisting of Bhato-Dalma, a popular local dish made of rice and mixed lentil and vegetable curry.

This marked the second occasion on which the Local Ghoton Organising Committee of Odisha Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement hosted such a community lunch programme. Before the meal preparation began, the chef offered prayers. Several local residents also offered heartfelt prayers for the long life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
