GENERAL INFORMATION

The celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday serves as an occasion to express our profound gratitude for his unwavering commitment to four principal endeavors: the practice and teaching of compassion to all sentient beings, the promotion of universal human values, the fostering of interreligious harmony, the preservation of Tibetan culture and environment, and the revitalization of ancient Indian wisdom.

His Holiness has dedicated himself tirelessly to these noble causes with the aim of advancing human happiness and global peace. This celebration provides an opportunity to honor his extraordinary contributions and to offer prayers for the continued flourishing of his visionary leaderships for the benefit of all humanity.

Inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision and teachings, the “Year of Compassion” has been officially designated by the Central Tibetan Administration to be observed globally from July 6, 2025, to July 5, 2026, coinciding with His Holinesss 90th birthday celebration. This initiative aims to provide guidance for those affected by the profound challenges of conflict and discord stemming from destructive emotions, helping them discern constructive paths forward. The observance further seeks to advance our shared human aspiration for a world where all people may experience peace, freedom, and well-being regardless of background or circumstance.

The ceremonies are open to the public.
